Module 3 Activity 3
How Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) has transformed the educational methology when you were in GRADE SCHOOL and now in SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL?
The COVID-19 has resulted in schools shut all across the world. Globally,
over 1.2 billion children are out of the classroom. As a result, education has
changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning whereby teaching
is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms.
Our education has undergone
significant changes as a result of advamces in information, communication, and
technology. When I was in elementary school, our learning was based on books,
and we spent hours in libraries looking through books for projects and
assignments. And now that I'm in senior high, ICT has made a huge impact on our
education; we now rely more heavily on multimedia, such as when teachers use
technology during class discussions (online class), we send our assignments/task
through emails, and type it instead of writing. We are depending on ICT in
today's generation.
CONSIDERING THE FOLLOWING FOR COMPARISON
A. The singing of the national anthem (Form a line, sing the national anthem with conductor)
- The singing of national anthem before, we are singing it together in school infront of our flag, full of emotion and respect, unlike now we are singing infront of our screen through the used of technology specifically using some recorded audios, meet or google classroom. The pandemic had a significant impact on us and literally changed the way we lived as students. Our education has undergone significant changes as a result of advamces in information, communication, and technology. B. Presentation of visual aids
- Long ago, concept notes and the presentation of visual aids using their creativity and talent to create a visual that attracts the student while reading it is what the teachers use during discussion. Unlike now, because of high-tech and advanced technology, teachers choose to use the PPT as their visual aid in order to save time and include some images. To be honest, I miss the Cartolina/manila paper presentation; it's so nostalgic.
C. Class record
- The class record is now different because, in the past, teachers would buy a class record, but now they simply record the students' scores on a laptop. utilizing and using some ICT tools that can easily compute the grades of the students.
D. Class Dismissal
- Class dismissal is different now than it used to be. Initially, after class was dismissed, you would all play outside with your classmates or even eat some fishballs outside before going home together. Now, We're saying our goodbyes through the screen now; no more bounding, eating, and going home together. The loneliness we felt during the pandemic is catching up with us. However, class dismissal remains the same in terms of time and how the teacher dismisses the class; the only difference is that we now say goodbye via screen.
E. Assignment and Research
- Back then, we had to rely on books and study them attentively in order to accomplish our assignments, and we had to go to libraries for research, while now we can simply tap our phone, go to Google, and we can easily find the information or context that we are searching for.
The COVID-19 pandemic has become a challenge for the entire humanity and the emergency state being declared in most of the countries around the globe has forced millions of people to stay at home creating difficulties in everyones daily lives and working rhythms . It also affect much on the education of school children and youth not only in the Philippines but around the world. We are all hoping that this pandemic will end soon. We miss the joy, laughing and the noisiness of our classmates, our second home and best teachers.
